The A-list has arrived. At least the double A list for named Kuiper Belt Objects discovered in the month of January. Yesterday, while prowling through the Minor Planet Centers data, I noticed two Kuiper Objects received names in recent days: Achlys and Aya.
Since then, all available time was dedicated to updating Kuiper Belt Orbital data, keywords and the generation of an ephemeris for each of these objects (monthly, 1700 - 2099). For those who participated in the KBGASP course, files have been added and updated and e-mailed. Because my Galactic Trilogy address book was deleted through a glitch in my e-mail system, if you have previously purchased the Galactic Trilogy and have not received updates in a while, please contact me.
And now on with the show.
Achlys (Akhlys, 208996 / 2003 AZ84), translates to “misted-eyes.” She bears the distinction as a personified spirit (daimona) of the death-mist - the physical clouding of the eyes immediately before death. Likely, she held charge as the goddess of deadly poisons. Achlys was considered to be one of the Keres, spirits of violent or cruel death, including but not limited to death in battle, by accident, murder or ravaging disease.
According to some ancient cosmogonies, she refers to the eternal night, and possibly appeared as the first created being, even before Chaos. According to Hesiod, she personified misery and sadness, and appeared on the shield of Heracles pale, emaciated, and weeping, with chattering teeth, swollen knees, long nails on her fingers, bloody cheeks, and shoulders thickly covered with dust. Are you cheered up yet?
Imagine how astrologers must have felt when Pluto took on his name. The lord of the underworld now impacting humans... and there was a spring in French Lick, Indiana, where the bottled water, a diarrhetic, bore the name Pluto Water. Astrologers likely scratched their heads until they recollected that everything under astrological consideration, despite mythological reference, possesses both a high side and the not so elevated side. For every gloomy assessment of Achlys, she holds the other polarity up as a potentiality for pursuit and integration.
She is the third-largest known plutino, following Pluto and Orcus and potentially a dwarf planet.
Achlys, discovered on 13 Jan 2003, holds an estimated diameter of 772 km and possesses modest eccentricity and inclination. Her rotation period (day) comes in at 13.42 hours, and her orbital period falls into 3:2 range of Neptune to Pluto at 249.06 years. Her perihelion lines up at 26 Sagittarius 39 - pretty much on the Galactic Center, and her node intersects the ecliptic at 11 Sagittarius 52.
On 1 July, she transited 11 Leo 34.
From the observation of assigned names over the recent years, it does seem that astronomers select names that relate to current social and political occurrences in the world. With her double Sagittarius nature, Achlys is all about truth. Perhaps given her eye-mist attributes, she refers to those final confessions uttered by those facing the afterlife with a major truth to reveal. Regardless, her urgency is all about the Galactic Center since her perihelion aligns with our galactic core. The fact is the concept of truthfulness shakes social and political events. It affects AI, designed to “make stuff up” based upon received input. AI knows how to imitate and even pose as sources it is not. AI, a moniker of modern life, and modern life itself require impeccable “clear eyed” scrutiny. It wasn’t that long ago that the term truthiness was uttered and added to our vernacular. Any half-truth, lie, or deceptive effort can be mitigated and corrected by willing souls enjoying transits from Achlys or any transit to her natal position. It’s also worth noting that her north node is near the Great Attractor... that’s all about the inclusion of all knowledge and fair consideration of all those who bear truths.
She inspires progress and innovation and requests that the truth be told about any project, concept, innovation or whatever a person seeks to implement. The truth in this context is the revelation of the honest intention, motivation and the why one insists upon the installation of the “insights” they push. Ultimately, Achlys releases despair and the physical effects thereof, via proclamations of total and complete truth. She says, “it’s time to get honest and totally true!”
Aya (55565, 2002 AW197), discovered on 10 January 2022, orbits the Sun once every 324.49 years making it a cubewano. It’s daily rotation occurs once every 8.86 hours, nearly three times to one of our days. She is reasonably large (768 km) and highly inclined at 24.4 degrees. Her perihelion is 27 Capricorn 09 and her node intersects the ecliptic at 22 Scorpio 33. She possesses a reddish hue and notably, her brightness does not vary during rotation.
Her zodiacal position as of 1 July was 7 Virgo 56.
Aya is the goddess of the dawn in Akkadian mythology. This mythology was infused with Sumerian tales and included Inanna, Nergal and Gilgamish. Aya was the consort of the Sun god, Shamash. Historically, the Akkadians conquered the Sumerians and absorbed their culture.
Combining the mythological implications with the influence of the urgency of Capricorn and stated objective of Scorpio, Aya refers to recognizing the value and merit of tasks that must be done in order to fulfill ones mission upon the planet. Aya does not rest on mental laurels. Once a decision is made, Aya includes the new data that arises from a person making a destination declaration to others, and adds the feedback given by others. And she is steadfast and a constant source of brightness.
Ultimately, Aya seeks knowing the edges of ones lane in life. This includes aspiring to higher social status and more inclusion in life. She suggests that it’s not so much what you do, it’s how you do what you do. There are applications that wonderfully work, there are those that do not contribute as much. Aya supports declaring the message of the Sun. Be bold, be bright, be confident and offer reassuring support to those currently navigating darkness and difficult straits.
Here’s to A+ reviews to the inclusion of these A-named KBOs, stemming from discovery in the first month of the year. Consider what new beginnings could be made and what slates could be cleared in functioning in accord with the messaging of these bodies.
On Thursday, the regularly scheduled Galactic Times addresses the third known “cosmic interloper.” and its relationship to Mars, Saturn and Neptune. Three Kuiper Belt Objects and a Centaur received names in the relative recent past. The KBGASP course members and the Galactic Trilogy owners all receive updates as I become aware of fantastic cosmic developments and as I receive source data - and all appear essential to today’s astrologer functioning in these chaotic times. Should you be ready to jump onboard with the Galactic Trilogy or the KBGASP course, the links below will get you there. I do anticipate more KBO naming in the not so distant future. And who knows what other cosmic interlopers we may encounter? Add these features to your astrological arsenal and be one of the first to know!
See you Thursday!
